The Wolf at the Door
Painting by Diane Culhane (with permission), photo credit Mary Sloat
When my husband and I bought this painting by Seattle artist, Diane Culhane, I saw so many wonderful images in it—houses, people, flowers, birds, and much more. When we took it home and hung it up, I saw only one image. Do you see what I saw? Do you see the wolf?
Once I spotted what I thought was a wolf, I started to wonder what else I might be missing. Was there something magical about the painting, something that could make things in it come alive? What if the wolf escaped the painting? Where would it go? That was the beginning of The Wolf at the Door which was published in Every Day Fiction.
